Director and 3d Animator
Alex Orrelle is first and foremost, an artist and a storyteller. His keen sense of style and ability to create unforgettable character performances are his trademarks. When Alex and his wife Michelle founded Crew 972 in 2005, the London-born, Tel Aviv-raised animation director fulfilled a lifelong dream of creating an animation studio of his own. Prior to opening Crew 972, he worked for three years at Pixar Animation Studios as an animator, working on theAcademy Award®-winning hit films, ¨The Incredibles¨ (2004), and ¨Finding Nemo¨ (2003), as well as the Academy Award®-nominated short films, ¨Boundin¨ (2003) and ¨Mike’s New Car¨ (2002). Just before joining Pixar, Alex served as an animator at Manex Entertainment, primarily working on pre-visualization and character animation for the visual effects sequences on the blockbuster hit, ¨The Matrix Reloaded¨ (2003) Alex holds a BFA from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where he attended Pixar’s animation program. While in school, he directed the short film, Freeware. In 2001, Freeware won the audience choice award at the Sundance Online Film Festival. Also while attending the Academy of Art, he made two hand-drawn films, ¨Lou¨ (1999) and ¨Soda¨ (1998). Both films were selected for inclusion in the prestigious New York International Film Festival, and also received the Academy’s annual Best Animated Film awards for their respective years. Alex recently completed work as the Animation Director on the live-action/computer animated 3D adventure, ¨Yogi Bear¨, which will released worldwide by Warner Bros in December, 2010.
